Absolutely NOT!  Antibiotics cannot cure an infection within the root canal simply because they cannot reach the nerve and blood supply of the tooth.  The infection that has been caused by bacteria (germs) entering the pulpal chamber (root canal) of your tooth can only be treated with a root canal treatment.  Antibiotics help to relieve symptoms associated with an infection within your pulpal chamber.  Often times antibiotics are prescribed when facial swelling is present, temperature associated with a fever, or other systemic signs of infection.  Please take any medication just as Dr. Cirgin has prescribed to you ~ and call if you have questions regarding dose/frequency.
